Mr. Chan Ying Lock

Chan Ying Lock is an Accountancy graduate from the University of Singapore and isa Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore. He also holds aMBA from the Nanyang Technological University. 

Ying Lock has more than 30 years of varied working experience, inter alia: 

Ø     He spent 7 years working in audit with Hogg Bullimore Gundry & Co inLondon and with Peat Marwick Mitchell in Singapore.

Ø     He spent 4 years heading the Corporate Finance division of TemenggongMerchant Bankers that later became Hill Samuel Merchant Bank. After someyears away, he later came back to join KPMG as a director of CorporateFinance for a year. Ying Lock’s specialization is in structuring mergers andacquisition deals.

Ø     He worked 4 years for Transpac Capital, a DBS affiliated venture capitalcompany where he was Vice President and Country Manager for Indonesia,based in Jakarta, where he was actively monitoring Transpac’s investments in Indonesia as well as sourcing for new investment opportunities.

Ø     Ying Lock has hands on management of companies experience when he wasGeneral Manager cum Managing Director of the world renowned InsightGuides publishing group for 7 years. He was instrumental for arranging thesale of the group to Langenscheidt AG, an established big German publishinghouse.

Ø     Ying Lock is familiar with all aspects of entrepreneurship from concept tobusiness plans, from raising initial funds to operating a successful enterprise.He was involved as mentor and speaker at NUS’ Start-up @ Singapore andhas given frequent talks to executives on business valuation and fund raisingfor start ups.

Ø     Ying Lock was a senior lecturer at Nanyang Technical University’s BusinessSchool back in 1996 and returned in 2006 to NTU as adjunct associateprofessor where he teaches management accounting for decision making andcontrol. He also teaches in the entrepreneurship program at NTC.

Ø     He currently runs his own business consultancy practice.
